CAM Zakarpattia has distributed more than 100 vehicles, ambulances, 4x4 cars and two fire engines since 2022.

Emergency assistance to rescue services

Why this project

According to the United Nations, 9.2 million Ukrainians depend on humanitarian aid, which is nearly one in four inhabitants. However, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the National Health Cluster, only 1.9 million people have received actual aid due to a lack of funds.

The bombing of civilians continues and requires a rapid and ongoing response to care for the victims. Emergency services are regularly targeted by Russian bombs. Fire stations have been hit. Sometimes a second strike is launched to target rescue workers when they come to care for the victims. Unfortunately, these war crimes are not uncommon.

It is therefore essential to strengthen the civil protection (DSNS), fire stations and ambulance networks in order to respond more effectively to emergencies.

Project beneficiaries

The beneficiaries are 29 fire stations, civil protection services and the hospital ambulance network.

How we are implementing this project

We have a logistics base in Uzhgorod, in western Ukraine. After assessing needs, the equipment is then transported to the final recipients.

  • At the warehouse, a team of employees and volunteers, including a doctor, prepare the orders. We partner with Nova Posta, which transports part of the aid received free of charge.

The Medical Aid Committee operates throughout Ukraine, based on the needs identified by our network of trusted partner associations and local authorities across the country. In some regions, the Medical Aid Committee has its own representatives.

The coordination of humanitarian aid is essential to meet specific needs and avoid duplication of humanitarian aid. The Medical Aid Committee is a member of the National Health Cluster led by the World Health Organisation. It is also one of the recognised partners of the United Nations inter-agency system for emergency response to attacks.
