The Medical Aid Committee provides emergency assistance to healthcare facilities. This includes:

– distribution of medicines
– distribution of medical equipment
– distribution of medical furniture: hospital beds, furnishings

Training and equipment projects are in preparation for the prevention of nosocomial diseases. This project relies mainly on donations in kind from companies. However, we need to raise funds to purchase certain equipment and for logistics.

Emergency aid for healthcare facilities

Results

More than 220 semi-trailers of medicines and medical equipment have been distributed by the Zakarpattia Medical Aid Committee since February 2022, representing more than 10,000 m³.

Two-thirds of these lorries came from France and the rest from other European countries.

Emergency aid for healthcare facilities

Why this project

According to the United Nations, 9.2 million Ukrainians depend on humanitarian aid, which is nearly one in four inhabitants. However, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and the National Health Cluster, only 1.9 million people have received actual aid due to a lack of funds.

The withdrawal of the United States has had dramatic consequences for supporting the most vulnerable. NGOs have stopped their projects overnight. And American funds are now trickling in. France has divided its humanitarian aid for Ukraine by four.

The bombing of civilians continues and requires a rapid and permanent response to care for the victims. Since 2022, 2,768 health facilities have been bombed, including 537 in 2025. The number of wounded on the front line is also significant. The displacement of populations within the country has also weakened the health system at an economically difficult time for the country.

Project beneficiaries

The beneficiaries of the projects are hospitals, health centres and physical rehabilitation centres for the injured. The Medical Aid Committee has supported more than 350 health facilities and 34 physical rehabilitation centres since 2022.

We rely on a reliable network of local partners and local authorities.

How we are implementing this project

A doctor at CAMZ headquarters in Uzhgorod receives requests from healthcare facilities, analyses them and prioritises them. After these assessment stages, the aid is then delivered to the final beneficiaries.

  • At the warehouse, a team of employees and volunteers, including a doctor, prepare the orders. We partner with Nova Posta, which transports part of the aid received free of charge.

The Medical Aid Committee operates throughout Ukraine, based on the needs identified by our network of trusted partner associations and local authorities across the country. In some regions, the Medical Aid Committee has its own representatives.

The coordination of humanitarian aid is essential to meet specific needs and avoid duplication of humanitarian aid. The Medical Aid Committee is a member of the National Health Cluster led by the World Health Organisation. It is also one of the recognised partners of the United Nations inter-agency system for emergency response to attacks.

The Medical Aid Committee is listed among the partners of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the latest report.
